1. Build wherever you want. Open meadows are ideal for starting towns but steep mountain sides, caves, canyons, and even the open ocean all work as well. Just don't expect things to be as easy.

2. Control nature. Bring plants and animals from one continent to another and they may become part of local ecosystems. Exploit local ecosystems too much and they will collapse.

3. NPCs do not want to die. Groundbreaking, right? Look intimidating enough and fewer will be willing to pick fights. Kill enough people in front of them and they may attempt to flee or surrender. Alternatively you can be non lethal and befriend every single person you encounter.

4. Falling off the edge of the world is fun.

5. The world is 6,000 times larger than Skyrim and is 100% destructible. Burn down entire forests if you want to.

6. Own a dog or two. They're the best.

7. On tall mountain peaks, humans have less oxygen and less energy. Climb too high or somehow reach space and humans die.

8. Players can start a family. Teach your kids everything you know and when you die, you can take control and play as one of them.

9. Currency can be forged. People can be bribed. Crimes will be properly investigated.

10. The Forged Kingdoms is actually three kids in a trench coat.

Believe it or not but I actually feel like a hack some times with how small the scope is.

A bunch of clever choices early on have saved me 99% of the work traditionally involved in a project like this.
