I do wonder if Astrobot will get reviewed much, there's a lot of games to review at the same time and many might not think there's much point in reviewing it.

It'll probably get taken into account with PS5 reviews though.

the original got 89 despite being sent out to die in the western release.   this looks like it got a lot of love and attention so I don't expect it can do much worse but i'm not sure if it can do much better either.

oh for sure.  sony clearly sent demon's souls out to die.  they had no confidence in it.  almost no marketing and terrible in-game translations.   ...but then it went viral because it's such a god dang good game.   if the original game can get 89 one would hope that the remake that clearly got a lot of love can do better.

For comparison they gave the original a lowly 9.

Second review. Gamekult claim they use a 10 point scale but they've never given a 10. So this 9/10 is the highest praise they can give, in fact its only the 9th 9/10 they've ever given and the first for a Playstation exclusive.

Look at their metacritic page Gamekult Profile - Metacritic (https://www.metacritic.com/publication/gamekult?sort_options=critic_score&num_items=30) 95% of their scores are lower than average. Wow! A great sign for Demon's Souls.

Also more reviews, 90 from 4gamers.de and "must have" from Ars Technica.

Now 92 after 13 reviews, getting there. Two sub-90s added. 84 from Video Chums and 88 from Multiplayer.it. A new 100 from VGC.

More than half the scores are 90 so far, I think it needs more perfect scores and 95s to hold an overall average above 90, there'll be some lower scores coming.

Last run of reviews has been great. Another perfect score got added from Vgamers. 4/16 perfect scores is a great ratio, 1/11 wasn't.

It's already been mentioned several times, but I think with this success that Bluepoint will join SIE. 

Theyve done a great job here. And it is really impressive that they've pulled it out in ~2.5 years.

I mean are we really suprised by the scores here? We know how much this game is loved, and its the game that started it all. Bluepoint seemed to do a fantastic job with this game. But its always been an awesome one. Scores aren't surprising at all.

i hear that there is a door.   wouldn't be surprised to learn that DS has DLC at some point

but yeah, i agree with you.  BP did a great job building this from scatch with a very, very detailed blueprint.  The technical expertise is fantastic.  it remains to be seen if they have any creative talent in their studio that can build something "from scratch".

No, not surprised at all and I don't think anybody has claimed to be anyway, in fact so far your score prediction is the furthest off.

yeah, when i googled i was surprised to see 700-1000 estimated employees.  that's a huuge studio to have no IP and no major (solo) releases outside of LBP.   maybe too bit if with 1000 employees they can only do sackboy's adventure and bluepoint can do demon's souls with only 90.  lol

...but i cannot complain about the quality of sackboy's big adventure.  it started out a bit slow but it's getting really good as i go.

Various communities were going crazy about a door that wasn't in the original game, and there was seemingly no way to open it.  

People used photomode to see that there was an item behind the door.  

There was a crazy amount of speculation. Including that it was going to be a hint at a Bloodborne remaster, a Metal Gear Solid I remake. (In conjunction with some strange sounds that might just be bugs).
