I'm having a good time with it. I'm about an hour into act 2, and its pretty much got the same strengths and weaknesses as the first game. Its nothing special but its a fun RPG to put some time into.
The loot box/ micro transactions might as well not exist, I've barely noticed them and I don't feel like I'm missing out. Having said that its apparently only act 4 where buying loot boxes becomes very advantageous, so I'll have to wait and see.
