Yeah I think that will help Sony, but not massive amounts. CoD's "home" is with Xbox IMO no matter where the early DLC or competitive goes. People will switch over but not enough to make PS4 the CoD home sales wise in US, I'll be surprised if it does.
As for BC we don't know yet, according to EvB they are testing CoD4, MW2 and BO2 (http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=175068534&postcount=7012) and Phil Spencer is in talks with Activision etc and says "talks are positive".
Of course not all games MS test will be released for the public, they are probably just getting ahead of the curve incase Activision does agree with it so that they have it ready to launch or they could just be testing a wide range of games to make sure the emulator works.
And they still manage their tremendous diversity elsewhere, which means the PS4 avoids the 'shooter/dudebro' image, while still appealing to them. It's been very interesting to see the differences as such.

The thing people don't seem to understand about cod and xbox, the only reason it was "home" on xbox was because of the lead in the US and nothing else. Not any of the rubbish we heard for years from the xbox camp. Now that the leads favors ps4 both in the US and WW Cod will now find it's "home" on Playstation.Not to mention, Sony now runs the COD competitive scene. There is more incentive to pick up the PS4 version and the majority of the COD fanbase isn't loyal to either platform.

So i highly doubt that would make their data free just because they have one competing source of video game sales.
The only way NPD numbers will ever be free is if someone starts his/her own data corporation and directly competes against the NPD Group a la Famitsu vs. Media Create. It also comes to show you how seriously the NPD Group and GFK take Chertz, lol...

Sony is in a much stronger position heading to this holiday season than the last. However, Halo 5 should not be underestimated even if the franchise isn't as strong as it once was. Yes, Sony has grabbed the COD competitive scene and Battlefront will be further hyped by the movie. But those advantages won't be enough to beat or be reasonably close to the XBO, so Sony needs to be very smart with their marketing and bundling.

September did 200k+ for PS4 so it crossed 1m plus October added it to ~1.1m.
If MGSV and Destiny can push PS4 to ~500k in September again then I can see another 200k+ gap pushing the overall gap to over 1m again like last year.
