PS4 hardware shipments were somehow flat YoY at 3,2 million. :o

Still hardware forecast has been lowered by 1 million to 15 million for the year, citing lower than expected non first party game sales as one reason.

Well yeah the year is pretty barren for software tbh

Also, PS4 has reached 100m. Fastest home console to do it.

I'm guessing it ends up with around 130m when it stops selling.

PS4 , Switch and Xbox one are the 3rd, 4th and 5th fastest selling consoles time aligned in the US | ResetEra

Switch different to the other 2 of course since it was released later, but it shows all 3 consoles did really well in the US so far.

That's cool. It's funny that we went into last gen wondering if the market was about to collapse and instead it's been the strongest generation by far.

Switch sales in Japan are finally going to reach explosive (3)DS level sales it seems. Debut week for Lite of 178k (3 days) in Japan while the regular Switch model actually jumped 11k week over week to 61k, for a total of 239k Switch.

Not only is that a seriously impressive first 3 days for lite, but normal switch going up shows that the lite is tapping into an entirely new market and Switch should see a huge uptick in baselines sales. Charts for the rest of the year should be fun to follow.

That's a whole lot of money!

Ubisoft: The Division 2 was a commercial failure | ResetEra

Comes as a bit of a surprise to me because it looked like it did well but Ubisoft isn't of the same opinion.

Ring Fit Adventure appears to be a hit for Nintendo. Word of mouth is crazy, the game increased in sales in its second week in both UK and Japan and it apparently is continuing to rapidly sell through its stock.

We went from coop last gen to loot shooters this gen.  I guess the phase is over.  Wonder what will be next gen?

Destiny 2 Stadia Population Numbers | ResetEra

Stadia seems to not have the biggest day one numbers.
There's also an estimate of 175k downloads for the app which is required to activate stadia. And that includes a large amount of people who just downloaded it to see what's up. Destiny 2 is the main free game with stadia and those numbers are appaling.

So yeah, seems like there's less than 100k people out there with stadia for sure, probably way under that.

Used python to come up with these NPD October numbers based on Era prediction thread:

310k < Switch < 318k
 PS4 < 155k
 XB1 < 113k

Unfortunately, most people were too high on PS4 and Xb1 so no lower bound can be found. Perhaps we need to game the system a bit and predict some extremes towards the end of the prediction times each month, so we can get good ranges!
