All sound in the game is real and comes from a source. There is no ambient music that plays during the game.

1. Saves development time.

Amazing world music like in Breath of the Wild is extremely hard to make. Tracks need to dynamically blend and work together regardless of the situation. It is much faster for me to program functional instruments into the game.

2. Gives players control.

If the player gets tired of my music, they can just tell the bard to stop. No track is going to play over and over and over for hours. Also avoids "combat" music and other things that traditionally tell the player what to do. If a massive fight starts, the player isn't wrong to simply walk away.

3. Fun gameplay.

Bringing a bard along on your adventures can be great. It helps add to my "road trip" philosophy with the game's exploration. Sure functional bards could exist on top of background music, but I think that'd just make them ignored.
