There is no IP involved within the studio other than Sunset overdrive which isnt worth much.disney (aka marvel) does not have a viable game developer to work on marvel projects.
They already own ratchet and resistance. Marvel owns spiderman and Activision owns spyro.
while the IP is not technically owned by sony by buying insomiac,.. it tethers this franchise to sony for the foreseeable future. as a independent developer it could be quite possible that spiderman 2 would have ended up as a multiplat release because insomiac's involvement is much more important to the sequal than sony's.
