Yeah I'll play this in a few months. Divinity 2 was amazing yet it had some big cracks.
i'm planning to do a write up on the topic at the end of the year but...
...my coop buddy and i decided to buy this game day-1 to play together. it will be the 1st $ i spent on playstation since upgrading to ps+ extra.
but yeah, day-1. we had such a blast playing divinity.

I don't play games on my PC very much.
Even though the experience probably wouldn't be as good, I will probably get it on PlayStation.
day-1 ps for me.
I love supporting this too because I want more games like this and less GaaS.

You know what, this is a pretty good reason to buy the game.
Looking forward to it!
What if Sony bought Larian?
What if Sony bought Larian?
Would be a good buy in general, but right now it helps Sony a lot more that this timed exclusive happened naturally.
Fans would immediately stop being mad at Microsoft.
What if Sony bought Larian?
it would be a great acquisition for anyone. larian and fromSoft are probably the most highly regarded 3rd party studios these days.
for sony in particular larian would be a good studio to fight against MS's acquisition of Bethesda.
not sure how acquirable they are though. but yeah,.. like legend said sony lucked the hell out that they get a timed exclusive launching against starfield and it's entirely MS's fault. talk about a win/win for sony and a lose/lose for MS.
Larian said they don't want to be acquired, and they have Tencent money to stay afloat.

everyone has a price.
everyone has a price.
The cost of independence is pretty high for some people.
Currently sitting at a 97 on MC, and a 95 on OC.

It's good!
It's above Zelda on meta!
Currently sitting at a 97 on both MC and OC.

My brother was raving about it.
Awesome how Larian have entered the mainstream with this.
I almost wonder if between 2022 Elden Ring and 2023 Baldur's Gate, if it'll have any kind of impact on the kinds of games Sony is making.
I hope so
Sony is fine, I hope the rest of the industry learns. Not including microtransactions and all that other bs can, sometimes, make you way more money.

I'm not saying they're not fine. But it would be cool if it gave them more confidence to go after these kinds of games.

I just want xbox to improve since they're wasting so much potential with their new studios.

Yeah but that's a different issue.

Then what's the common trend between Elden Ring and Baldur's Gate that you're referring to?

Two aspects:
There can still be growth in non-live service/single player games (you could also throw God of War Ragnarok in this category)
That there's interest in good quality RPGs.
so MS caved. ;D
Found a solution lol.

"I don't see a world where we drop S. In terms of parity, I don't think you've heard from us or Larian, that this was about parity. I think that's more that the community is talking about it. There are features that ship on X today that do not ship on S, even from our own games, like ray-tracing that works on X, it's not on S in certain games. So for an S customer, they spent roughly half what the X customer bought, they understand that it's not going to run the same way."
so this it out soon (on playstation). anyone else getting it (on playstation)?

I'm planning on getting it, but I doubt I will get it launch day.
I have access to the game on steam but I haven't played it yet. I don't want to be in the middle of it when starfield launches.

saving the best for last I see.
good choice,.. wouldn't want to play starfield and have all those comparisons to BG3 reminding you how boring starfield is.
bg unlocks in 3 hours and this is the day I have to go into the office this week. fml.
What people expected for GOTY: Tears of the Kingdom, Starfield, Final Fantasy XVI, Spider-Man 2
Actual GOTY: Baldur's Gate III
not trying to start a list war here but like... that's a pretty amazing list of GotY contenders. this was a pretty great year for everyone.
....but (and i'm losing confidence here since we don't have a definitive date yet) if talos principle 2 still releases in 2023 that is very likely to be my personal GotY winner.
so i started this up last night... spent pretty much all night on the character creation screen.
it was odd. it felt very liberal to me. it had a bunch of features to support minority players that aren't all that typical (trans, vitiligo) but the was like very light or non-existant on features i've come to think of as pretty standard (eyes, eyebrows, nose).
with only 2 body types (per gender) and only 8 faces i kind of feel like there wasn't much customization i could do. me and my coop buddy worked independently and produced 2 characters that were nearly identical looking because we both picked the same hair style.
anyways, we actually played the game a bit. i managed to wipe us both out in the very first room. not the first encounter,.. the first room. The one that had basically nothing in it at all. i feel like a deserve a trophy for that level of incompetency. xD
gameplay is both very divinity and not at all familiar. i've never played D&D and i feel like there are a lot of things i'm "supposed" to know but do not. we're clearly not out of the tutorial yet but i'm not sure what's going on with most of the gameplay systems. oh well, i'll figure it out eventually.

I look forward to following your journey! Hope it's good ;D
So how's it going for people? I'm thinking of starting playing "soon."
I just started Ragnarok so won't play Baldurs Gate for a while 8)

It's going to take me longer than I hoped to get started on it.
Way too many games to catch up on.
i'm playing this with my coop buddy. it means i only play this on thrusday nights for 3-4 hours. since i've been sick recently i've called it a night early twice now so i'm only like 6 hours in. i'll let you know how the game was in ~14 months when we finally finish. xD
Haha not the responses I expected.
