Youtube to require labels for "synthetic" content

They are focusing on AI but will every single realistic game now need to be labeled "synthetic?"

AI or not,.. if the video makes it (very realistically) look like a political leader said something that is simply not true i think it needs a label.   

this is one of the most obvious abuses of AI.   it's already difficult to keep flat-out lies from going viral.   just imagine "video proof" of biden/trump saying the N-word for instance. 


does not matter to me if it was AI or CGI or whatever.   not sure how i like the label "synthetic" specifically but i appreciate the effort.   now we just need a law that can send someone to prison for not-labeling their content and causing real world damages to people or democracies.

I definitely like that they chose the word synthetic. It focuses on the result instead of the method.

It's just pointless though unless they limit the tag to stuff that actually matters. Otherwise it becomes background noise.
