People are really invested in disliking the Epic Store and I honestly don't understand it. The thing that I really dislike about the store (focus on paying streamers for game coverage) is hardly ever talked about. Instead the dislike is either focused on exclusives or dismantling the positives compared to steam.
3rd party resellers shouldn't have lower prices in an ideal world. Epic takes a lower cut so the Epic version could also have a similar discount compared to a hypothetical Steam version. Sony manages just fine with it only being 7% so why couldn't Epic? The only negative is that it might feel like a worse deal even if the final price is lower than it would have been otherwise.
Also this ignores microtransactions and DLC. I don't know specifically how Epic handles it, but those sales should also have the 12% cut and are much more likely to happen within the store.
