What do you think of newer generations of Pokemon?

I've seen some people say they don't really like the newer generations.  Sometimes they'll just say there are only 151 pokemon, other times they'll say it's a little ridiculous that there's an ice cream cone pokemon:

Look at how adorbs he is.  

I think it's weird if you're playing the original Pokemon where there's 151 pokemon, and yet it's like there are some 600 that are completely unknown at this time.  From a world building perspective, that feels strange.

Cute Pikachu

I like them. There more interesting and in depth then generic
Sparrow, pigeon, rat, snake, magnet that the 1st gen ran with.

I like the new gens. The designs are quirky and fun which is what pokemon is all about.
