In-N-Out is America's Favorite Burger Again (and other fast food poll results) | ResetEra (https://www.resetera.com/threads/in-n-out-is-americas-favorite-burger-again-and-other-fast-food-poll-results.37449/)
From https://www.dailynews.com/2018/04/19/in-n-out-wins-again-in-customer-loyalty-poll/(https://cdn.vox-cdn.com/thumbor/AbazW-fb-YFVkw7NVK4pxMV-PkI=/0x0:900x598/1200x800/filters:focal(378x227:522x371)/cdn.vox-cdn.com/uploads/chorus_image/image/59240133/in_n_out_burger_flickr.0.png) In-N-Out Burger is America's favorite for a second year in an annual study of quick service restaurants.Click to expand...
In the burger category, In-N-Out scored 76 percent in customer loyalty, a dip from last year's 79 percent. Culver's, a Wisconsin chain with 650 restaurants in 24 states, came in second at 66 percent. If Southern California residents want to taste its specialties, Butterburgers and frozen custard, they may have to drive to Lake Havazu City, Ariz. In third through fifth place were Five Guys Burgers and Fries; Smashburger; and Steak 'n Shake.Click to expand...
Chicken: Chick-fil-A topped the list with 73 percent in customer loyalty followed by Raising Cane's (https://www.dailynews.com/2016/11/25/move-over-burger-is-fried-chicken-the-new-fast-food-favorite-in-town/), a newcomer to Southern California, with 68 percent. Costa Mesa-based El Pollo Loco (https://www.ocregister.com/2018/03/13/el-pollo-loco-unveils-new-logo-4-best-selling-tostadas-return-to-menu/) was made the No. 4 slot, behind Zaxby's, which has 700 locations, none in California.Click to expand...
Mexican food: Chipotle edged out El Pollo Loco, 46.3 percent to 46.2 percent. Qdoba was third with 45 percent.Click to expand...
Sandwiches: With 64 percent in customer loyalty, East Coast convenience chain Wawa topped Firehouse Subs and Jersey Mike's, with 62 and 59 percent, respectively.Click to expand...
Pizza: Not much love in Southern California. Pizza Ranch, which is in 13 Midwest states, was first with 64 percent, followed by Papa Murphy's Take 'N' Bake Pizza ("Our Pizza. Your Oven"). The Vancouver chain is in Costa Mesa, Eastvale and Palmdale. Marco's Pizza was third, ahead of more established Domino's Papa John's, and Pizza Hut. Marco's is shooting for 1,000 stores in 2019, some of them in Southern California.Click to expand...
Was there ever any doubt? In N Out. In N Outttt. That's what a haaamburgerrrr, is allllll about. Pretty interesting results. Have never heard of Pizza Ranch but it definitely sounds like it's a restaurant located in the midwest. Surprising that Chipotle won even with their food making people sick and rats falling from their ceilings. *insert west coast jab here because we got the best burger* if old.
Chipotle is great.
In and out is great.
Chickfila is great.
Don't care about pizza though.

It's just whatever. I love good pizzas that mix it up and are unique. Like if it doesn't use a tomato sauce then I'm a much bigger fan.
I have benefited from your information a lot. |
Will visit some of these places on my next trip to America. Out of what's mentioned I've only been to Five Guys.

Man I do love Five Guys. Shame they're so expensive though.
I didn't like Five Guys when I was there.

I liked the burgers but the fries were just ok.
I really liked Culver's though.

Nah Five Guys fries are amazing! My favourite fries anywhere. I am more of a chip person though (I guess thats chunky fries to you yanks?) so maybe that's why I like them. You also get so many of them its amazing.

See you limit yourself by only having two words to describe these things. Normally, sure you can argue English vs. American but English is straight up better here.

This way, you can easily specify whether you mean fries or chips, which are both very different (mostly in texture, but also obviously in size). How do Americans differentiate these?
And chips beat fries any day. Nice and crisps on the outside, fluffy on the inside. Yummy yummy

I was underwhelmed by them but because I'm English I prefer chips from a good old fish and chips shop.

I'm not sure what these are.
They kind of look like small steak fries. That's all I can figure...

That's because you've never smelled freedom.

Yeah all fries are inferior but Five Guys fries are the best I've had. Miles better than the standard KFC/ Maccies style that's for sure. Still, nothing compared to some good chips.
What do you put on your chip shop chips? My sister loves curry sauce, I love gravy or just use ketchup.

Yeah this kind is served with steak sometimes, but its the most common form of potato served in british pubs/ restaurants. You get a burger at any non-fast food place in the UK, those come with it. Almost guaranteed. Same goes for lots of other dishes too. Like meat pies, battered fish, grilled chicken etc.
Your freedom is a lie. True freedom would involve meat pies and pasties.

Usually just salt and vinegar. If I get a bettered fish I smother that shame with salt and vinegar to.

Yeah I don't like vinegar so I don't do this :P
Also I'm avoiding salt now too. Which is why I normally go gravy. Also I'm northern, so I need to make sure my blood gravy content stays above 90%.

Gravy contains a lot of salt, ask Dr Pez. But gravy is a good choice to have with chips. In fact gravy goes with a lot of things, I just had it with toad in the hole and mash.

I also find the english use of "sharp" weird.

That's just what we call them. Doesn't really have anything to do with them being served with steak. Anymore than French Fries has to do with being served with French.
French fries are more common here.
Culvers has Crinkle Cut fries, those are good.
I'd say in terms of common-ness:
French fries > Crinkle cut fries > steak fries
"Crisps" is weird.

Wait people actually think Chipotle is better than Qdoba! Chipotle is garbage tier compared to Qdoba!
I really liked Culver's though.
Bruh! Culvers is so good!

I like Culver's better than a lot of actual restaurants.
Good burgers. Amazing shakes. Amazing cheese curds.
See y'all just causing yourself pain by having to say extra words like steak and french

Pft.
At least it isn't as demeaning as saying "crisps" .
What do you call peppers, spicies?
/S
I kid. But I do feel weird about the word crisps.
Also, you have clearly never had a good crinkle cut.

Yeah crisps is a weird word. It always sounds wrong when you think about saying it.
I probably haven't. Nowhere you can eat out at does them here, so the only time I've had them is from frozen in the oven at home and they're pretty shame.
Nothing like some transatlantic disagreements to spice up a topic lol.

And you never will.
Because when you come to visit me, we'll have cheese curds instead .
If you ever come to England, go to beefy boys because their burgers are amazing. Their bacon cheese fries are also out of this world.

Eh i hardly ever hear anyone call them steak fries or french fries. They are just simply "fries". I think that's probably most common in america. It is at least in Indiana.

Yeah. Unless someone wants something specific, fries is just generic.

Same with us with chips. You can just use fries if you want to specify fries style :D

I just checked, Beefy Boys is only one place in Hereford. I thought they were a small chain. If you do venture south to Herefordshire, check it out.

That's a shame. There's plenty of burger places in London though!
