I haven't seen the new season yet, but I really appreciate that Futurama has relatively consistent characters.

It bugs me a lot when I get into a show and a character becomes exclusively a trope. Like when a dumb character just becomes a dumber character and that's the entire depth to them. Or when the trope of everyone hates this character, becomes the only reason why that character even comes up.

Fry is a dumb character, and a lot of similar shows would just make that all he is. But he continues to have other traits, a friendship with Bender and likes Leela throughout.
i like how you are praising futurama while also very clearly pissing on simpsons.

disenchantment just got it's fifth season,.. where does that one land for you?

I've only seen like a season of Disenchantment.

Comedy wise, I thought it was pretty dreadful.

I recall starting to get interested in the story, but I never picked it back up again after the second season ended.

One Piece live action is really fun! I wasn't expecting it but it looks great, is well acted, exciting at times and even funny

Watching Justice League has been such a strange experience.

I watched a lot of it years ago, I don't even know how many. I'd probably guess like 15 or something, and it wasn't something that I actively watched. But I watched it with him when it was on.

Yet it's been so long ago that I don't remember most of it.

So it's been a surreal experience of nostalgia and new.

I finally finished Andor. Was kinda good, I can see why so many love it.

edt: lol I noped out of this video Andor is so real!

Was going on about how great filming on location is since you get details that just don't happen with cgi, such as visible breath in cold environments. Lol that is one of the most standard things to fake and the scene he's talking about probably has cgi breath.

They also manage to wonderfully explore his relationship with his family and his dog. His past is a huge part of who he is even though it occurs 1000 years prior.

The show is just so dang good.

I have yet to watch the new episodes. I will at some point though. My favorite characters are the profession and zap. I also love calculon

I like disenchantment but it has a fatal flaw, ironically that fatal flaw was something that was brought up in an episode of Futurama.

Generally I'm comedy shows, specially ones like the Simpsons. At the end of the episode, or start if the new one, everything returns the same. There is a default that doesn't change. Disenchantment ditches that, and it's one long story that keeps on going. So if you go back and watch a random episode, you have no idea what's going on.

Ironically in an episode in Futurama, they mention this concept. Fry says it at the end of a episode as a joke.

yeah, that's probably my favorite part about disenchantment.   watching out of order isn't really a think here due to Netflix.   I will admit that as the seasons go on I can't say I remember much about what happened before.

I would kind of say there's a spectrum of continuity.
Resets everything all the time vs always having continuity.

Disenchantment is on one end of the spectrum.  But I think some shows like Futurama and Rick and Morty are somewhere in the middle. In Rick and Morty things have consequences and carry over to latter episodes, but there's a lot of flexibility. They can show different universes and it doesn't break continuity.  In Futurama there's less continuity, you don't need to watch all of the episodes to know what's going on, but there are instances where things have consequences.

New Rick and Morty voices.

They got some pretty close matches.

Legend

Yeah sometimes it's perfect and I'd swear they were using old voice clips. Other times it sounds super different.

I can't recall the last season I bothered watching. The show didn't really decrease in quality but you can't stay shockingly unique season after season.

the-pi-guy

I doubt anyone cares besides me, but Steven Universe is $15 on iTunes for the entire series.

Another week for Warner Bros to sell some random TV series at a heavily discounted price to continue their money train.

Legend

Loki season 2 is confusing. Too many names that I don't care about. Hopefully it gets better.

the-pi-guy

I present two memes for those who have seen all of Breaking Bad.
