...or is it just me.

my kids are pre-k and 1st grade.   they are offering parents 2 choices and they both suck.

1. in school education.

pods of 5.  classes of 15.  masks mandatory.  social distancing mandatory.  specials (music, art, gym, ect) canceled.  If a case of covid is confirmed to be in school parents will not be notified due to "privacy" concerns and because apparently social distancing will keep everyone safe.   if any child exhibits any symptom of covid (fever, running nose, ect) the kid is kicked out of school for 14 days.  the school district has no plan in place for how to educate children that have been kicked out of school.

2. remote learning

teach your kids yourself using curriculum created by the school.   zoom meetings with remote teachers.  the district has made no plans for how this curriculum is going to look like and therefore cannot answer any questions.

ugh.

Sister is a 5th grade+ teacher. Her thoughts are that you could start with in school education and pull your kids out if it isn't working. Kids that young really need to stay social to keep developing so there really aren't any good options right now.

Our school won't allow that.  We have to commit to option 1 or 2 for the first semester.   we can switch at the semester break if we want but that decision needs to be made by thanksgiving.
