New thread for sony? Or did they not share enough numbers to make it interesting?

They shared some interesting info, best year for Sony ever, no PS5 this fiscal year, etc.

I think people know my stance on new threads on the forum by now.  ;D

Good for them.

Good. I hope it sells enough that they can go an make another, or a new PS5 game and grow and improve as a dev. Hopefully the game is profitable. I'll be buying my copy later one once the price drops

I personally believe that if they aren't given the chance to make sequel for this, they are likely to be shut down, which would suck. I don't imagine Sony will give them another potential 7 years to make something completely new, if this attempt doesn't work out for them financially.

So yeah, I'm hoping this is successful as well.

Hope they make another type of game instead. It's just not that interesting or new as a concept

Also, surprised by the strong sales. I guess zombies still sell

I doubt their next game would take 7-8 years like this did. The development shifted from vita to console at some point and then they came up with days gone. Shifting from portable to console takes time, it's also a new IP so building that takes time as well. The studio also expanded and grew. So a new game would most likely take 3-4 years, which is the average for the Sony AAA exclusive.

I can see one hurdle being a shift in engine. They might want to opt to develop their own engine rather than using unreal, which in the long run would safe money. But IMO they should use Decima engine because it would fit all their needs.

That's my point, if they make a sequel to Days Gone, it'll probably take around 3-4 years. Making an entirely new IP would possibly mean them downsizing again, as that would probably mean that they'd enter a prolonged pre-production phase again, with many people not having anything to do. Going by other Sony studios this gen, they'd probably taketake at least 5 years again in that case.

Also I don't think they'll switch engines, I believe one of their higher ups is actually somewhat involved with that engine in general.

So apparently days gone sold around 70k first week sales in the UK. Not bad.

Yep, biggest launch of the year and quite far above MK11. Very good, about what I expected tbh.

And that's without digital of course.

1 million week one seems very plausible. Hopefully it manages that and has some decent legs. I don't expect horizon type of legs on this so launch period is important

Yeah with a 72k UK physical launch and performing above half of MK11 in USA means 1mil launch week seems about right.

Surprisingly good debut for Days Gone in Japan.
