Go Down

Xevross

Yup. Have yet to watch the episode but based on this and last season I think the books will be far superior. They were already better when the show was based on them but now the gap is huge. I sincerely hope GRRM can finish them and effectively give fans a true remake of the show  ;)
Yeah I really hope he does get around to them so I can see how this story was really supposed to go, the butchered version by D&D is just so sad now.

IMDb for the ep. is 4.7/10, by far the lowest GoT episode. Hate train is at full speed I guess. Was a 7/10 ep for me, probably third best of the season because not much dumb shame happened, but the build up to this was so poor it lets it down, nothing that happens feels earned or satisfying. Also there is still quite a lot of dumb shame.

You and I have rather different definitions of fan fiction but okay. I thought this was fan fiction in its purest form. Evil people gone, good guys are all happy and where they should be, which isn't very game of thrones imo. Don't get me wrong, I love the ending for these characters because its fan fiction and I'm a fan, but it does feel really unsatisfying.

Not at all. The problem with the show is how we got here, not the ending itself. Book readers know this is the ending they'll get, but they also know it'll make sense and be earned (if it ever happens). For example, Dany turning evil/mad will be done way, way, way better in the books and in fact the seeds are already being planted. Also final fight will most likely not be against Cersei, Bran will have more to do with the fight against The Others and shame like that.
Yeah clearly cause as a fan, this isn't really where i was expecting them to take it.  If this was pure fanfiction i don't think there would be this big of a negative reaction to how the finale ended, but maybe i'm wrong. So many people seemed to have had their minds made up of how they wanted it to go.  Everything up until the finale the last couple seasons was pure fanfiction, imo.  Execution was by far the worst thing for this season, but that's mostly D&D wanting to basically jump ship.

But, we'll just agree to disagree

Well you're completely misunderstanding the backlash. The backlash is mostly from the hardcore fans, who never cared exactly how it ended, as long as it was great and well written. Its these people who are upset.

The fan fiction is towards the crowd who were all wanting a happy ending and dying to see shame like Arya fudgy Gendry, Sansa becoming Queen of the North, all the stark kids being alive and happy as well as everyone else like Bronn, Davos, Brienne etc. The people who tweet going "yaaaaaaas queen" when a character does something badass like Arya killing NK. The people who seem to forget about previous seasons and all the build up.

And yes agreed the last couple seasons has been mostly fanfiction, I was just willing to forgive it if the ending delivered but it hasn't.

I pray for star wars now that d&d were hired for a trilogy

Yeah not sure how it will go. I think they'll be fine though, Star Wars movies have always been about spectacle and that's their strong point. No decade long build up for them to deliver on, should be fine.

Tell that to the hardcore fans lulz

This is the best thing out of this GoT season. The writers are clearly shame. And only seemed good because the source material was amazing. Now hopefully the star wars movies they make are shame too

Chernobyl episode 2. Harrowing stuff

The great irony with Rick and Morty.

Is the belief that nothing matters because there's an infinite number of universes.  If everything goes wrong there's a new universe where it didn't.

And yet, the show makes it clear this isn't the truth. Everything matters because every decision has a permanent effect.  Everything from the house being teleported to the entire world being cronenberged.

The show gets criticized for it's nihilism due to several characters believing that nothing matters, yet ironically the world around the characters seems to show that their belief is wrong.

Finished the first season of disenchantment.

It was being pushed as some kind of medieval Simpsons or Futurama.  It isn't and honestly the comparison makes it worse.  I only had a good laugh once.

But the plot makes up for it.  It starts off not so great, but by the end of the season it's legitimately good.  Very excited for season 2 now.

Warner Bros is in the streaming biz now?

How many are we up to?

This is getting ridiculous. Companies are forgetting the point of such services. It's not just to be able to watch without inserting a disc. It's also to be able to watch everything in one place for one price
