Framerates will start to matter a lot less.
Higher is better but with g-sync a framerate of 42-48 fps is great. There is less of a reason to push for 60 fps 100% of the time because the screen is not 60 fps 100% of the time. Dropping to the 50s and even 40s with gsync is smooth and never produces jitter. It's exactly like a game with dynamic resolution dropping to 900p. The player may notice but it's minor.
So if g-sync becomes common enough, I think only specific genres like fighting games will stick to locked 60 fps. Graphics heavy games will be fine with large chunks being in the 40s.
