He's likely going to end up being a bad president. However, the outcome went the way it did was not because most Americans like Trump, but rather a lot of them were anti-Hillary.

He had less than 50% of the vote in the whole US.

We elect by district basically.  The more districts that vote for someone, that person wins.  But some districts have more people than others, so you can have a candidate win with less votes.  

A lot of people hate both, but hate him less.
