The last day to claim the new World of Warcraft mount is fast approaching. Players who log in by September 30th will be slated to receive the new mount once it's finished being modeled and added to the upcoming Warlords of Dreanor expansion. The mount is based off one of two custom motorcycles created by Orange County Choppers. Players worldwide voted on which of the two bikes they would prefer to see in-game. The Horde faction mount won the poll with a decisive victory.

The bikes were commissioned by Blizzard to Orange County Choppers. Two bikes were commissioned, with design teams being led by Blizzard employees. Both teams had to work within the bounds of Warcraft's lore and art style while they were designing the bikes. Even further restrictions were placed on the designs in order to have the bikes match the aesthetics of each faction they would be representing.

The teams were given only a short amount of time to build both of the bikes, amounting to only five weeks. With this limited time frame, it was quite possible that the bikes would not be completed by the deadline. Coupled with troubles during the manufacturing process and one of the build team members needing to leave the show, completion became even harder to achieve. Thankfully the bikes were completed in a timely manner due to the skill of their builders.

Players were then polled worldwide to decide which bike they would prefer to see in World of Warcraft. After tallying votes from the entire player base, it was found that the Horde faction's bike was the winner. Luckily, Alliance players will also be able to obtain their factions chopper for a large amount of gold sometime into the Warlords of Dreanor expansion. Horde players that have not logged in by the 30th will also need to purchase their factions chopper, instead of receiving it for free.

This was an interesting publicity stunt on Blizzards part, and certainly provided even more hype for their upcoming World of Warcraft expansion. Since their player base has been slowly decreasing, this couldn't come at a better time. With the many changes and additions Warlords of Dreanor will be bringing, this mount will likely be swept up and largely forgotten. However, in the meantime, it's certainly quite the eye-catcher.
