Dr. Pezus

I feel like I play games less on PC than I would on consoles.
Same here. I always end up doing something else on PC lol

@pezus

You've yet to share your thoughts on paid mods. Care to chime in?

Not sure what I think right now. I don't use mods that much myself

Dr. Pezus

Skyrim free weekend on Steam! Well timed with the paid mods for it ;)

I use mods a lot in Cities Skylines and KSP. I find the problem with Valve's system is it makes paid mods seem "official." They're practically endorsed by steam and the game devs now. If the mods worked like professional DLC, then this'd be fine. I'd personally hate it, but I wouldn't be against the concept of it.

However these mods are broken and glitchy. Many mods are not compatible with each other, and many mods break when game updates are released. They either need to stay free and stay mods, or become paid and become professional/official DLC simply made by individuals. This middle ground is just an abomination.

Yeah that's the best way to say it.
The middle ground needs work.

Dr. Pezus

Did I read that creators only get 25% share??

Opens the door for
Negatives:
-micro transactions.
-fraud: people selling others stuff.  Already happened I heard.
-waste of consumer dollars: if a mod breaks after 24 hours theres no refunds.

Positives:
- people can live off modmaking - more and better mods but the small cut will reduce this majorly.

Mmm_fish_tacos

that's bad

Not really, While not great a good mod could bring in more money than so of the higher paid you tubers and twitch players. You got to think it's not your IP and valve is giving you store front advertising. 25 percent for your time is pretty good.

Yeah 25% is fine. Probably 25% mod maker, 25% steam, and 50% game dev.
