That sounds like a totally different system to our Universities here. What are the programs you're talking about?Basically you can apply to a University and say I'm going for Physics or I'm going for Math, or you can even just say you're undeclared. If you are declared, you're put into that program. The physics program, the math program, etc.
You can easily take classes outside your program, and even are required to take some.
But at my fiance's school, some of her higher up classes require her to be part of the Dietetic program.
