Death Stranding developer Kojima Productions has launched a new division dedicated to music, TV and film.

Based in Los Angeles, California, the new division is designed to take the game studio's games to other pop culture areas. The new team will be led by Riley Russell, who joins the company after a nearly 28-year stint at PlayStation in various roles, including chief legal officer, and VP of business affairs.

Seems everyone is expanding into movies/shows.

Death Stranding tv show doesn't sound that interesting though.

I would imagine we're reaching the limit of money you can make in gaming.  Studios will have to start expanding into other things.

That and Kojima wants to make movies.

The thing is you can be extremely profitable with gaming, but its also a very high risk market.

Expanding into movies, TV shows and other media is the logical step. Other media IPs have been doing so for ages. So has gaming but we haven't had many successful gaming IPs turned into movies/TV shows yet

..also.

games make money but you can go like 6 years with no revenue waiting for the game to complete.   tv would be faster and produce a steadier revenue stream.

business likes that sort of thing.

Unless you're James Cameron.
