I guess they're getting the ray tracing ball rolling, to encourage more work on it and next gen it'll work a lot better. Seems like there's not much reason to upgrade from the 10 series for these, unless money isn't an issue for you.


Have they actually explained what's going on? It looks more like a hybrid approach verse ray tracing everything.

Annoying just how buzzwordy this all is  :P

So a couple of things, Tomb Raider devs and Battlefield devs only got access to the RTX API a few weeks ago, and the demos that they showed off are only the result of about 2 weeks of work.  

With that said, 1080p60 looks like it's about what we can look forward to.  Battlefield is already running solidly at that, so maybe that could be 1440p60 or something.  

Some things are still a bit in the air.  

Performance wise, the GPU's are about 6x faster than the previous gen at ray tracing.  Otherwise it's a modest jump.  Probably closer to 30%.
