Plus PS4 is old. Do big games like this push sales as much as they would early in the gen?

"Far Cry 5 debuts as the top-selling title of March 2018 and instantly becomes the best-selling title of 2018," NPD analyst Mat Piscatella said. "Far Cry 5 set a new launch month sales record for the Far Cry franchise, with consumer spending on full-game sales nearly doubling that of previous franchise best, Far Cry 3. Publisher Ubisoft is the leading publisher in both March and 2018 year to date (January through March)."

"Sea of Thieves was the second best-selling game of March, and is the eighth best-selling game of 2018 year to date," said Piscatella. "Sea of Thieves generated the highest launch month sales for any title produced by developer Rare since tracking by The NPD Group began in 1995."

Along with Far Cry 5, other franchises also set launch month records. Sony's MLB 18: The Show and Hal Laboratory's Kirby: Star Allies both had the best-selling debuts in their series histories

Wow what a great month. Far Cry 5 absolutely smashed it. MLB setting a record is cool.

Sea of Thieves only being 8th of the year isn't so good, but then again it must be at least quite good to beat a record MLB launch.

Far Cry 5 followed by two exclusives (well, console in Xbox case), followed by loads of multiplats which are mostly the same.

Cute Pikachu

Kirby broke franchise records and beat the second highest game Nightmare in Dreamland by 90%.
Triple Deluxe did 140k in its launch month so at least 260k for Kirby.

Nice

Cute Pikachu

Nice
This isn't confirmed but the number for Nightmare in Dreamland was 260k so Kirby and MLB could both be over 500k. They both beat series records after all.

Excellent result. Especially if it is 500k ^^

I never expected Kirby to do so well.

Neither did Kirby.

Cute Pikachu

Ok so the NPD are misleading and is 90% growth by consumer spending. Estimates put it closer to 300k.

ethomaz

Looks like the 4 years old console continue being the king and the new hot sweet can't follow it.

After look the Switch results in Japan and US I think people and analysts are overestimating the shipment for this quarter.

Kerotan

Ps4 having a great year so far.
