Honestly, I was kinda expecting something like this to happen after I heard he'd go on sabbatical for a year. That already sounded like a telltale sign of his time at Naughty Dog nearing its end.
Still it's a bummer, I at least had some hope that he'd come back to work on a new IP.

With the way the industry is going I can bet the AAA section of the industry will lose him. Seems to be the norm any more with people working for 5-10(more in some cases obviously) years at these big studios and then leave because of burn out.
