2.0 is getting close guys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's been in the plans since November, and this past week I hammered out some of the biggest features remaining. I'm excited and want to share my progress dang nabbit!
First off I rebuilt the forum index/recent forum posts. On the home page it operates practically the same. Searches every board and finds the most recent topics. Now however a local index exists for every board and category too. For example the gaming index shows recent posts from all gaming related boards, be it news, community, or dev blog.
The new indexes may also be sorted in ascending or descending order by subject, started by, replies, views, and last post.
I've also rebuilt Live View from the ground up. On the tech side of things it's better than ever!!! It uses a fraction of the data required by its predecessor, only about 10MB per hour. Meanwhile it sends about 500 times the information. Posts show up in just 100 milliseconds. That's fast.
Live View 2.0 is pretty on the outside too. It now has full BBC support including a rich text entry reply field. Pictures, links, full paragraphs, etc. can all be posted with ease! But what if, you might ask, the thread is moving rapidly and you are having trouble clicking a link? Or what if missed a post and it's already off the top of the page? Have no fear! 2.0 contains the posts within a separate scroll box. Simply scroll up view any/every post made during your live view session. New posts are simply added once you scroll back down.
Oh, and one more thing. You can highlight and copy the text! It's not refreshing 24/7 like the old version.
Unless I die or screw something up, 2.0 will take over before E3.
