Do not use corn as a source for ethanol. Cellulosic ethanol is better if we find a way to produce it efficiently, i.e. energy of production < usable energy.

Space.

The Earth is just one single planet in an entire universe of energy. If we cracked space travel and figured out an efficient way to move around up there, we'd have an abundance of options.

Thorium MSR's,   produce less waste over modern solid fuel reactors by factors of hundreds, and the transuranics created are considered uselss for weapons.  plus The proposed LFTR that kirk sorenson(Flibe energy) talks about should supposedly operate at high enough temps to draw CO2 from the atmosphere, combine it with water to make carbon neutral fuels. awell as desalinating sea water.   The use of molten salt over water also means you dont have to operate at extreme pressure.   And the Frozen plug passive system is far better then the engineered safety of old reactors.   Thorium is also far more abundant then U-235, and foudn frequently with REE's,  potentially bringing more REE deposits in north america within  economic feasibility

solar has issues handling base load, as weather and night time play a huge part, and storing grid sized energy isnt very feasible at the moment.  since its also so spread out, you can also have relatively high energy loss simply getting it to where needs it.

Solar energy would be iced in Iceland lol

lol yea but you guys have a ton of geothermal..

-Geothermal
-Solar
-Wind
-Ethanol
-Water
-Nuclear

And then start pushing some sort of alternative fuel for cars.

Cars should go electric if we can really make grid energy cheap abundant and clean.

Think there's one inconvenience that if you run low it can be difficult to get any further.

Maybe electric cars with ethanol or hydrogen as a back up?

recharge stations.  techology is getting better at fast charging.   but that is one limitation to it

the editing isnt that great,  lots of jump cuts and the like,    but it has tons of info and explains how thorium could used as an energy solution.  the maker says he is making a new version thats much more up to date.

My dog.
burning that much methane isnt a good idea
