Just horrible horrible horrible.

All talk about SMF should be removed. We use them for forum software, that's it. The user doesn't give a dang.

This help area needs to be really user friendly, and give people a tour of all we have to offer.

What about adding a link to the introduction thread in the getting started page? 

Perhaps at the bottom, "What are you waiting for?  If you haven't already, go ahead and introduce yourself."  link
