Lol, wow I just realized that Nier Automata has also got enough reviews to show up on Metacritic already, it's only 4 scores but it got a freaking 93 average. Poor game, having to stack up against Zelda today (though I'm expecting more reviews to drag down Nier anyways).

From my personal experience(This is the Wii U version), frame rate issues aren't too prevalent, or at least enough for me to notice. The only times I really notice them are: The plateau, towns with a lot of NPCs(Zora's domain especially because the rain and water effects), Akkala Tower(Has a lot of effects with the red substance), and for some reason whenever I shoot a moblin with an ice arrow. Other than that I haven't really noticed anything.

I've done a tiny speck of reading.
Apparently there's a house(s?) you can buy.
Also fantastic stuff about the physics engine.  Talked about how they set something down and it ended up getting blown away.

If they managed to make it all fun, I can easily see how they pulled off a 97/98.
Basically Zelda Skyrim except actually amazing, without all the problems Skyrim has.

I have to admit the attention to detail from some of the thing in this game are amazing. It's like you wonder to yourself 'can I actually do that?' and boom it turns out you can...

It's stuff like this that really sets apart a game like this from the other several open world games on the market.

I'm still waiting for that one site that wants attention to give it a troll review though. You just feel it coming.

The fact that the game got delayed dozen of times shows Nintendo wanted to focus on these details.

Watching a few livestreams of the game and graphically I'd compare it to an average looking ps3 game.  It's a shame Nintendo can't do graphics like most publishers in the industry.

At least the actual game is good.

I just bought the game (WiiU version)

Played it for an hour.

My God, I am gonna get lost in this game. (in a good way, the wanderlust way)

I've clocked about 12 hours or so in FFXV and I'm barely in Chapter 2. Gonna clock so many hours in this dang game lol.

I clocked about 80 hours in Skyward Sword and that game wasnt even a open world like this one.

Also performance wise for the WiiU version, it doesnt seem bad at all.

I hardly noticed it falling for the hour I played, I pretty much explored around The Great Plateau and its not as bad as some people are saying about the WiiU version.

Resolution wise though, I could easily tell 720p doesnt do this game any wonders along with the lack of AA.

When the WiiU emulator CEMU is all ready and done and the game is optimized on PC - it will be one of the best looking emulated games.

Anyways as far as I am concerned, this doesnt affect me whatsoever - I'm enjoying FFXV on my OG PS4 and I'll be more than likely enjoying this game on my WiiU.

Also gameplay wise, I can understand why all the reviewers gave it a high score. There's just so much you can do that the previous zelda games did not have. I also love the item/weapon system, its not like any of the previous Zelda games but reminds me of Western RPGs with all the weapon durability, customization of gear, etc.

I have a feeling this might end up becoming one of my most favorite Zelda games. But I'll do an actual playthrough once I'm done with my playthrough of Ratchet and Clank on my PS3.

(I've also been playing Zelda OoT 3D on my 3DS and loving it so far :p). Will be the first time that I will be playing two zelda games back to back.

-----------

Also, this makes it my 6th physical Zelda game I ever owned (Physically at least) :)

Its also worth noting that this is my very first full priced ($60) game purchase ever.

I rented the SNES version during the 1990s but I did finish/emulate it early 2000s.

As for the GBA ver....I did play the game last year (recorded it for my YT channel too).

I didnt really get into Zelda until Skyward Sword/Twilight Princess.

Always been Mario/DK/Kirby/Pokemon but now Zelda too. Fire emblem I started for the first time last year and it was fantastic.

I've yet to properly play a Metroid/Pikmin/Animal Crossing/F-Zero game.

With Nintendo I wouldn't bet on that. You might even get unlucky and have a really hard time finding a physical disc of the Wii U version of this game in a couple months, wouldn't surprise me in the least.

Honestly I'd expect it to go up.
There's one game Nintendo only made a few of, and then people were selling them for 90$.  I think there was another game too.
A Metroid game and Pikmin 3, I want to say it happened to?

Going off unreliable memory.  :P

Good luck.

Nintendo games go on sale rarely unless its something like black friday but I dont think there will be much copies left of the WiiU ver by that time.....you can get it on digital I guess.....but I have a feeling the digital eshop on WiiU will close sooner than later l0l....

Not sure about Pikmin 3, but this happened to Metroid Prime Trilogy.  I'm actually sitting on an unopened Last Story Collector edition and an unopened Xenoblade Chronicles.  Probably should have picked up Clock Tower, oh well.

Watching the ign graphics comparison and the Wii U version doesn't look much worse than the Switch version. It's mostly slight lighting and shadow differences I think

Nvm, it was just difference in time of day. Looks like it's only a slight resolution difference. WiiU is like switch in portable mode

I remember it happening for a bit with Pikmin 3 because my sister wanted to buy it.  It was 70-80$ on Amazon I think.
Then they released it as a Nintendo select for 20$.

I believe from the pics I saw the Wii U version lacks AA... everything else looks to be the same with the Portable Switch.

Docked Switch looks to have higher resolution and even better AA THAN portable Switch.

Speed run?
Yeap... you need less than 1 hour to reach the part of the game you already can finish it.

Well, that's not really completing the story.  Once you clear the first area you can go straight to ganon if you want. My guess it would take a bit of luck to get something halfway decent to fight him with by the time you go there. Plus you'd want to try to stock up on some good meals. Even though you'd only have 4 hearts. seems like a one hit kill for ganon. So maybe you'll have to avoid getting hit at all.  I think I have about 10 hours in and am nowhere near the end of the story.

I just watched this, it's interesting that this is possible but pretty boring to watch, he does the plateau and then heads to the final area immediately, just climbs up the wall, collects some gear in the castle and then starts fighting the final boss, he even dies and loses around 10 minutes during that fight.

I prefer speedruns that show a little more of the game.

After Plateau anybody can finish the game... even story wise because that is the main quest.

It is fair because the game was design like that... everything else is optional.

It was actually an epic experience infiltrating Hyrule Castle, the music made you realize that crud was going down.

I'd actually recommend at least going there before you beat the other places. There's a lot of neat stuff in there.

Alongside very, very strong weapons there's: A memory location, Zelda's Diary(Basically tells what she was thinking after each of the memory scenes played) and most importantly the Hylian Shield, which has 90 durability and can block Guardian Lasers. I honestly thought it was unbreakable for a time, but it did end up breaking on the final boss.

Best to check Best Buy or something.

What do you think of the game?  :o
And the switch!
The game is awesome. But it's hard to explain what keeps me going, Or why i'm having a hard time putting it down. There's lots of little things in the game that make you go wow. Like, I just finished a shine that I had to climb a mountain to get to. I was on top of the mountain scoping out where I should head next. And then I noticed a shooting star fall to the ground. So I glided down from the mountain to and ran to the spot it fell and got me a nice rare star fragment. It's little crud like that that waste time in this game. It like you're on a mission and then the game tempts you with something else. and then the next thing you know you forgot what it was you originally set out to do.  Then these other things like not beable to climb well in the rain. So I had to wait for the rain to pass so I could climb and pillar to glide into a shrine.

The switch is nice, but overpriced.  It should be a 200 dollar system. And they need to seriously reprice all accessories that go with it. cause 80 dollars for a controller set if fudgy insane.

For a handheld it's the shame. probably everything the vita should have been.

For a home console it's seriously lacking. For example I can't even plug my mixamp in so I can use my high end headphones. I got to plug them in directly to the switch and it doesn't have enough power to drive them like they should be.

How quickly this thing build a library of good game is going to determine if it lives or dies. I hope it lives because overall I really like it and it's probably the best system nintendo has made sense the SNES.

Well when a game got capped due newer version.

Kotaku: Zelda director discusses WiiU functions and other things cut from BotW - NeoGAF (http://neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1350714)

Quote
http://kotaku.com/hookshots-wii-u-ma...-fr-1793056895 (http://kotaku.com/hookshots-wii-u-maps-and-other-things-nintendo-cut-fr-1793056895)
 Hookshot Rune:
Quote
“Hookshot was (one) we experimented with and tested, as well as (the) Beetle from Skyward Sword,” Fujibayashi said, referring to the flying mechanical insect that you could use to grab items and drop bombs on enemies. “After a lot of experimentation and testing, we weeded out all the ones that had potential to detract from the gameplay and enjoying the game. What’s left currently, the four items, were really what would draw out the fun of the game.”

Regenerating Health:
Quote
“We had talked about the idea of maybe — usually the heart gauge decreases from the right, having it decrease from the left,” Fujibayashi said. “Or have it naturally regain over time... We actually did that with a number of things in the game that don’t look like they changed in the final product. Actually, during our experimentation we tried to change them, and then realized, ‘Oh, this is actually really well thought out.’”

The Greatest Sin:
Quote
“When it was originally just for the Wii U, we had touch controls,” said Fujibayashi. “But we had to remove them... Although it was not very flashy or exciting work, it was still time-consuming and difficult.”
In Breath of the Wild, one of Link’s main tools is the Sheikah Slate, a device that resembles the Wii U GamePad and allows Link to interact with the world. Originally, this Sheikah Slate was going to be far more connected to Wii U GamePad, to the point where Fujibayashi and the other developers had to overhaul parts of the story when they decided to bring Breath of the Wild to Switch as well.
“We felt that the way the Sheikah Slate is represented in the game and how we use the GamePad in real life synced really well,” said Fujibayashi. “So when we had to remove it, I did feel like, ‘Oh, it’s too bad we had to do that.’ And because it was so tied into the scenario, we did have to go back and redesign and rethink the scenario, which was a little bit (of) hard work.”

Okay let's try this again. Complain about spoilers and die.

Dam Wii U low sales

Jim Sterling and Slant Magazin with the upset, after a 7 and 6 from those two respectively the game has lost its 98 metascore.

Curious to read up on Jim's thoughts. I'm surprised he gave Zelda a 7.

There's currently only a written review, but the internets reaction is hilarious as expected. Always amazing to see people flip their shame over a review score they don't like.

Jim giving it a 7 is whatever. He's known for that type of stuff and it's still somewhat positive. Slant giving it a 6 is blasphemy.

The way Jim and Slate's reviews are written are night and day, too. At least Jim puts in a good effort to justify his opinions whereas Slate doesn't understand the point of why BOTW is constructed the way it is.

The Jim review... is pretty good... people will hate the score but his points are accurate.

Said that 97 is amazing yet.

Just checked and this is a low 97 now. It'll probably still have another 20 reviews to come, so its at danger of dropping to 96

We're going to need to put the Zelda fanbase on suicide watch.

On second thought, let's just turn around and pretend we didn't see anything.

I would legitimately laugh my dog off if this happened, I can not imagine the fall out being anything but a hilarious sight to behold.

Yeah there would be lots of very angry people. Which is quite crazy, because 96 is still an insane score and way higher than anything else this gen.

As people have pointed out, review scores are about 3 points lower on average this gen, which is why a 98 was ridiculous. And being real, if we're comparing it to other top games this gen, there's no way it deserves to score 5 points higher than even the very best.

I really really want to see it drop from 97 to 96 or even 95!!  We already know it's a great game according to most, but the salt will be amazing if it's gets down to 95.    Plus metacritic really doesn't mean shame.

You can't say it doesn't mean shame! If the game drops to 96 it could lose about 4 sales worldwide! That would be a disaster!

THe switch is the weakest console ever released for its gen.

and some people believe this thing can handle PS4 and XB1 games, when it cant handle a WiiU game at 720p and has to go to sub HD res.

As things stand, the dynamic scaler also doesn't explain how the Switch version is capable of outperforming Wii U comprehensively in GPU-bound areas because - yes, you've guessed it - the same scaling technology is also deployed on the last-gen version of Zelda as well
