Americans got an extra hour of sleep last night.

Fun fact: did you know that the length of an hour originally wasn't a static duration of time? Instead it was defined by sundials and changed with the seasons. The first mechanical clocks were considered very inaccurate because every hour was 60 minutes exactly. Lots of clocks even had mechanisms to keep them accurate to sundials. It wasn't until later on that the hour was redefined to be what we consider it today.

Yep we do. And I've never heard anyone calling it crud. We just go along with it.

"Jim, the meeting started an hour ago."
"It was supposed to start at 8?"
"It's 9, right now."

"No, it's not.  Today's daylight savings."
"I don't think that's a thing."
"It's definitely a thing.  You just wind your clocks back an hour."

Thats why we have daylight savings.

We don't have it here but we should imo.

Why?

I don't know of any positives in the modern day.

In fact, we seem to be going the opposite way and will put less focus on time zones. Do everything on UTC.

Let's just say our clock is wrong

Daylight savings wouldn't change that though.

Well we'd need to turn the clocks in the opposite direction obviously
