Why?
You know how Narnia is dumb but still kinda enjoyable?

This movie is dumb while also not being enjoyable while also being sad and depressing.

Honestly yeah.
This is making me think about how much I dislike the whole movie.  There's nothing very fun about it, and the ending is just depressing.

Oh god that fudgy film. I can barely remember it now, but I still strongly remember how negatively I reacted to it.

Don't bother with it.

Honestly the way she just disappears was so bad. I remember being so angry at it. What a dumb film <img src="https://vizioneck.com/forum/Smileys/default/tongue.gif" alt="&#58;P" title="Tongue" class="smiley">

Full Solo Friday came in at $35.6M (bad, I thought 35M was the bare minimum after the preview number). Asgard is saying 24.6 for Saturday (bad). It might not even make $100M 4-day. Holy shame what a disaster.

Speaking of $700m, that's a worldwide total target that's being talked about for Solo. Quite a lot of BO followers think it might fall under that. Now that would be absolutely catastrophic. Its going to be an interesting one to follow. The 4 day memorial-day OW record is $139m, held by Pirates World's End. Solo not setting a new record would be the first sign of a disastrous BO run.
Man, how things have changed in just a few days. I said not beating $140m would point to a possible disaster, and its going to miss it by about $40m, just shows you how bad it is.

Quite likely to miss $500m WW at this point. That'd be a huge loss of money for Disney, and a massive collapse for the franchise.

Wow. Missing the 500$ mark? That's insanely bad.

Don't get me wrong. I'm happy about this cause I want starwars to just fudge off already lol.

But seriously, after TLJ and this Disney should take a hard look at starwars and realise it's not the franchise they thought it was. Milking it this hard going forward will destroy it and run it to the ground. This isn't another MCU.

Yeah exactly. The demographic that turns up to Star Wars films doesn't want films so often, not to mention films that no one really asked for.

Sub $500m for the Star Wars brand would be absolutely dire, I think Disney/ Lucasfilm are definitely going to rethink their strategy after this. Hopefully Kathleen goes, but I doubt it.

While the domestic performance is a disaster, its overseas where the real horror show is. Solo is only opening more than half of Rogue One in New Zealand and domestic. Most overseas places are dramatically down, even in big Star Wars countries like the UK (OW will be -65% from RO). This might be their biggest problem, trying to work out how to get the overseas market interested in Star Wars again. I think domestic is still decent and if they actually put a big film out there that people want to see, it will still do well, but overseas is a problem.

Solo domestic 3 day early estimate ~ $83m, overseas ~$65m. Oh dear. Oh dear oh dear.

Unless legs are crazy, this will be closer to $400m than $500m. What a crazy collapse.

Deadpool 2 had a very bad 66% drop to its second domestic weekend, and Infinity War seems like its numbers will be okay-ish.

Not a good weekend for any of the big three.

Edit: I didn't even think but that's a $148m global debut for Solo. Tracking only a week ago thought that was the low end for the domestic debut. My oh my. The same tracking put the global debut at around $300m, its managed half of that.

Wow. This is more than just franchise fatigue imo. Maybe people just didn't want a Solo film, especially without Ford himself

just fyi, your tracking updates are always great  ;D

Yeah this actor came across poorly in the trailers. Everyone loved the idea of Lando being Donald Glover but they didn't manage the same excitement for Han.

Yes this is a combination of a very large number of negative factors. I have no idea how to unpick this, just a few days ago I was thinking it would do way better than this, and that was still bad. Thus isn't just lack of money for Disney, this movie will lose them quite a bit more than $100m. Something's gotta change after this. Its sad to see too, they really should have stuck to much less regular SW films, and actually listened to fans.

Infinity War passed $1.9bn, its going to be a nailbiter with reaching $2bn or not. While Disney has a lot of problems to sort out with Lucasfilm, they must be absolutely delighted with marvel right now.

Another fun fact, Deadpool 2 made more money at the weekend than Solo overseas (fri, sat, sun numbers only - so not counting Solo's wed/ thurs launches in some countries).

That's the second weekend of an R-rated superhero sequel beating a Star Wars debut.

Seems like Solo was underestimated by about 1 million in the US on Sunday, some good news for it. Although its not really Solo performing better than expected, every film is going to be higher than estimated thanks to memorial day sunday being better than anticipated. IW is also going to be over a million up for example, and its weekend will end up being extremely good.

Solo was massively overestimated overseas though, we don't know by how much in total but it was $3m in the UK alone (Solo did about $7m rather than 10) I don't really know what happened there.

I follow movie performance's here by reading xevx comments lol. He just gives the full picture.

Glad to see solo bombing! Yaaay for no starwars!

I gotta say, I get Disney didn't anticipate Starwars going this way back when they purchased it. TFA certainly did huge numbers. Rogue one did great for a spin off.  But TLJ and Solo have now under performed. And EA has released just two star wars games, the first under delivered critically, the second bombed critically and sold much less than anticipated.

EA also cancelled a starwars game, and after 5 years just Dice released a game when it seemed all thier studios have been working on a project at some point.

Other than the MMO, EA has also yet to release their own starwars sub genre. Battlefront was there long ago and it was created by EA.

After so much emphasis on Starwars by EA the last few years they have so little to show for it.
