We start off with what should be quite an exciting month. The Xbox One S has released and we should be getting a the PS4 Slim very soon. Feel free to talk about any Amazon chart from any country but I will only keep the US data up to date.

I'm going to discuss amazon Japan in here aswell if you don't mind.

Persona has been #1 on there for ages.  Shaping up for a big launch.

Sure, the US charts will be the main focus but we can talk about Amazon sales from other countries.

I only seen a sound track related to phantasy star online ahead of it since besteria released.

P5 has been beasting.

Meanwhile it hasn't really been beasting on COMG these last few days, just got two freaking points today. At this rate P5 will end noticably below P4 at that chain and that's just a bummer.

Look at the bright side, at least FFXV isn't coming out two weeks after P5 ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It makes it hard to judge how the Xbox is doing, they have way to many bundles

I think all the PS4 and XB1 bundles are selling poor right now. PS4 is understandable but if MS can't move a significant amount of consoles now, it's going to be a slaughter when the PS4 Slim drops. I'm surprised how sales have dropped so quickly for the Xbox One S.

MS are throwing in a $50 gift code plus an extra game with  the game that's already bundled. Xbox Consoles - Microsoft Store (https://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msusa/en_US/cat/Xbox-Consoles/categoryID.3836849200?icid=XboxUber_ModD_10_LaborDay_ConsoleOffer_090216)

I wonder if the slim will be $199 or $249 for the ps4.

I think they'll have some crazy holiday deals for the xbox slim.  Games, gift cards, 3 months live free, more games and a free ps4 for every purchase.  (I kid) but they'll likely have some very good deals.

No way the PS4 slim sells at $199. We're talking about a $150 reduction if that's the case.

True but it's expected to have a much better ratio than P5. additionally if the slim releases the same week a lot of people who get that will buy the game without having pre ordered.

I know, but I just want that game to be the exception to the rule, an 8th generation PS game that doesn't end up with far less pre-orders at COMG than it's predecessors.

Why the heck is Vita in the top 100?

Also PS4 slim better have a great price reduction. Would be crazy for XBO to win NPD three months in a row.

I think anything below 25th is just selling OK and anything around 50th or below isn't selling that great. The sales of the PS4 has definitely been hit by the news of the PS4 Slim.

Why the heck is Vita in the top 100?

At $300 the Slim will win the month easy

Well if it's $299 it might struggle won't it?
The xbox slim is $299 with 4k drive and hdr and free game.  By the holidays it'll likely have free gift cards as well.

I don't know, once they start deals on the $299 xbox slim a $300 ps4 slim and no game might not do as well.  Heck, I've already see the $399 xbox slim with 4 free games.  If they start some crazy deals on the $299 version I think a $300 ps4 slim might start to slip against it.

Yeah I think it'd simply keep the PS4's current momentum.

It's kind of a $50 drop but not really if you consider that they are taking out the game.

$249, the lower entry point will be more enticing than a game that people might or might not want.

This is a good point. There are several games right now that you can get for less than $50. Some retail games only cost $20, so you can get two of them with the slim for just $289.

The Pro would peak at #1 regardless. What matters is how long does it hold that position.

I wasn't expecting it to. But yeah it won't hold 1st for long and will drop down before settling at a lower position, probably end up a lot lower than where the PS4 slim ends up.

#2 ps4 500gb slim
#3 Persona 5 PS4 bundle
#4 Persona 5
#7 ps4 1TB slim

I'm surprised the neo is the #1 in Japan. I wouldn't have expected them to care as much there.  Maybe it'll have big week 1 sales and slow down after that while the slim takes over in the long run.
Either way 2016 will be big in terms of hardware sales for ps4.,will come close to the PS3's peak year.  Although that depends if FF releases this year

Let's please not overestimate the importance of Amazon in Japan, as far as I know Japan still prefers brick and mortar stores over digital retailers. That being said, I really hope the Persona 5 bundle boosts the game by a lot.

Also, why does Sony announce bundles without giving a price? That's so annoying. I wanna know how they deal with the pricing of these bundles, especially since they have 3 different Cod bundles there.

It was announced later and put up for pre order later.

Can anyone tell me if the OG PS4 bundles received a price cut to clear them out?

The 3 OG PS4 that are charting seem to be doing very well.

I'm really interested in the battle on amazon Japan between the Pro,  the slim and Persona 5.

Persona 5 is definitely moving well right now and coming up close to release in thr next few days it should be doing big numbers.  I'd be very surprised if either of the ps4 models can stay on top.

I have been mostly but I must admit it's like driving slowly by a car accident on the side of the rode.

I thought of making a thread

All the things the ps4 pro left out:
1) Doesn't change baby diapers
2) won't fetch me a beer from the kitchen
3) doesn't transform into a motor vehicle
4) no super model in box
5) doesn't cut the grass on my lawn
6) won't wipe my butt after important business

It's pretty funny how people are up in arms about a niche (Bluray) of a niche (4K Bluray) feature not included in the Pro. Physical media sales have been on the decline while digital media has been taking home more revenue. I'm all for options, but at the same time, why include something that most people don't want?

My favorites are the ones that Sony is forcing to buy extra equipment because it doesn't have a drive.
It doesn't have a lot of things I want in life.
It's like continuing to repeat something that is pointless.  It has what features it has.  Make a choice based on that and move on.

Yeah, I thought it was weird at first not to include it but obviously they know something.
I bought tons of dvd's but not blu ray because now I just stream.  Why would I buy 4k collection when 8k will pop up in a few years and make it obsolete.

Yeah, my family has a lot of DVDs. While my parents bought two Bluray players, the Bluray library is nowhere near as big and now, they just use Amazon Video via Roku. It's a way cheaper option.

Of course, the limiting factor will be people's connection speeds. Here in Connecticut, the Internet provider options absolutely suck with the poorly executed town-exclusive services. For instance, you can only get Comcast in Danbury while you can only get Charter in Newtown. Frontier is the only one that is available for the entire state, but its price/speed ratio is bad. I really hope Google Fiber takes off like a rocket soon...

Very true, but it makes me wonder if they're not looking at some data we are unware of that indicates it's not worthwhile to include the drive.

I don't doubt alot of people do but they have to be looking at some data that suggests low enough useage on their machines that price point was more important.
Maybe they cut a deal with Netflix or maybe they're releasing their own 4k movie option we are unaware of for streaming.

Sony is surely releasing their own option for digitally buying and downloading 4K movies and they've said that they are looking into bringing 4K movies to PS store as well, but that they don't have faith in the 4K bluray format is obvious by the fact that the company as a whole doesn't have a 4K bluray player on the market.

PS4 Pro will sell what Sony can ship this holiday.

And for next year I expect PS4 Pro to be the main seller consoler from Sony... yeap it will sell better than Slim.

It is a non-brainer with more $50 you get a 2x more powerful console.

If you do a number 1 it takes only seconds with a number 2 taking minutes or even up to 20 minutes or more for the bad ones.
If you take a number 3 you need to take a day off work for recovery.

Pro make it to number 1 on the monthly chart but starting to lose steam on the hourly chart. The Uncharted 4 Slim is starting to make a bit of ground before it's release while MS announce 3 more bundles, all Battlefield 1, one of the bundles is MS store exclusive though.

The Pro as dropped to 10th but that might have something to do with Sonic Mania mania.

PS4 Pro will have a rocky launch. People will need to see it in person to really get the feel for why it's good.

It'd be like launching a next gen system but all the games are ports. Without exclusives, adoption is really slow.

The Neo will sell a couple hundred thousand, but with Nov and Black Friday that's not even close to enough to guarantee victory.

As long as MS has good discounts like the last two years they have a shot.

I think a Advanced Warfare + Modern Warfare bundle will help the PS4 sell a lot for the holiday season. We see that the Black Ops III bundle is still trucking along. Releasing a bundle that not only has one, but two COD games will likely sell even better.

Neo launch, cod bundles and slim black Fridays sales. It's pretty much in the bag.

PS4 Slim already ot of the top 40 and while both together are most likely outselling it, neither the Slim with UC4 nor the BO3 bundle can beat the X1 S on their own at the moment.

Amazing performance... the Slim is just too expensive compared to what the Pro offers

Maybe it's how it is being marketed?

I've heard people saying the Xbox s and ps4 pro are the same power. I figured the 4K/HDR marketing would help Xbox s.

The Pro is definitely slowing down PS4 Slim sales. The Pro is priced very good, only a few months ago a 1TB PS4 OG cost the same as a Pro.

Yep, slim should have been cheaper in my opinion.
People think the Xbox s and pro are the same which makes the slim seem pointless (marketing wise).  It needs a low price point to compete regardless if in reality it's more powerful than the Xbox one s. MS marketing smartly makes it seem as though it's not.

I agree with you on some points. MS will market the S like it's the Pro but it's Sony's job to counter that with their own marketing. Sony could say stuff like 'twice as powerful ' and 'only console that can do 4k gaming' etc. They need to get the message across that this is far better than the s.

They also can advertise both consoles in the same advert and imagine an advert for Cod and at the end 'play in 4k only on PS4 Pro'.

The Pro will be a big part of Sony's advertising campaign but the Slim will be used for promotional price cuts this holiday. With the Slim Sony can undercut the S a good chunk in price if need be but Sony this gen have stuck to their own gameplan and not had any knee jerk reactions. I cringe when I see people on forums calling for a price cut when years of trends show that the PS4 outsells the One priced $50 more. What do they expect to happen when they are priced the same?

The only thing stalling the Slims sales is the Pro but Sony are happy to let that happen and PS4 will still probably win this months NPD. Sony are in a good place.

I guess the slims price, in my opinion, isn't very appealing when compared to the pro.

We will see how Sony markets the pro against the S.  The whole does 4K video and HDR gaming is slickly confusing the power difference lines, smartly so.

It's dropping at a constant pace on Amazon.

I think it's just too niche with how it was presented.

It's 2 months away, and is still away above all other console SKU, 11 days after preorders opened.  I'm not worried about it.
Expected it to drop much faster honestly.

I think it's doing fine on Amazon. I actually believe that with how small the price differential is, the Pro won't be niche at all. I wouldn't be surprised if 30%+ of PS4s sold in 2017 and onward were Pros.

Also, September is a way more active month than June or July, so theoretically, it is more difficult to maintain a high ranking in September. If the Pro manages to stay in the Top 20, then that is impressive.

The XBO S 2TB SKU had dropped to #41 twelve days after preorders started. I'd say the PS4 Pro staying in the top 20 is pretty dang good. Though to be fair, there's only one PS4 Pro SKU, but then again preorders for the cheaper Halo and Madden bundles weren't great, either.

Compared to the XB1S, the Pro is doing much better job maintaining a high ranking. Not to mention, September is a more active month than June.

The Pro is doing fantastic and you have to expect it to drop down the charts since this is pre-order and it's release is a couple a months away. So far it's tracking a lot better than the S on Amazon and is currently in a comfy 3rd spot on the monthlies. I do expect Sony to push the Slim more this holiday with price cuts and bundles. The Pro might get bundled but I expect it to be $449 with a game and dropped to $400 on BF.

Nov with black Friday + pre-orders could put up some large numbers.

Japan was the only place where they ended stock of OG PS4 before ship Slim.

People outside Japan are buying more OG than Slim.

That makes sense because OG PS4 has more features than Slim.

I know that Yeah.  When they launch the infinite warfare / COD4 slim in America and they run out of OG ps4's to sell that bundle will do very very well on amazon.

What did he do or didn't do?
Nothing he doesn't do to the ps4 on the Amazon thread but a mod got mad (I assume because it was a joke about his preferred console judging by a comment the mod made a few days ago about people who own ps4's) and threatened banning while calling him out for trolling and baiting.

man vgchartez mods team are becoming like or maybe worse then neogaf mods  team

Yeah that was ridiculous and the mod could have simply private messaged him.
I wonder if that mod would be ok if I called someon a troll and baiter because I don't like their particular joke?
Somehow I doubt it.

The monthly chart gives a more accurate representation of how the Pro is doing. It's 3rd for this month and that's pretty good. If it can stay in the top 50 in next months chart then we can expect a pretty strong launch as sales will ramp up again in November as release day approaches.

Dunno, not like they are going to sell these special editions the normal way at $179. Seriously, I don't know whose bright idea it was to price Recores special edition that high, it's absurd.

I read somewhere that they added it. And they definitely didn't have it when I last played Fifa which was Fifa 13. I assume Konami had the exclusive rights for the J-League or something.

Oh, I didn't even notice which PS4 was leading. I never really thought about which version of the PS4 would win, just that the PS4 would win by about 40k - 60k this month.

Less alcohol is bad though so ending up with more alcohol is a win!

I knew people would break the PS4 down into PS4pro/PS4s/OGPS4 in order to pick which one is more convenient to suggest a 'failure' so it won't be anything I'm surprised by. I've already seen articles about how the PS4s isn't selling as well as the XB1s. Well, no shitt Sherlock. There are THREE versions, so how about counting them all.

By the way, I threw a rock at you yesterday ... what does it do?
