Title: What was the stupidest "threat" to gaming?
Post by: Legend on Apr 19, 2018, 02:50 AM
Smartphones were going to kill it.

Let's plays were going to kill it.

Used games were going to kill it.

The industry was worried about these things and others. Which was the stupidest thing to worry about in hindsight?

Used games on multiplayer games. Do you remember a time where devs DIDNT want you to play their games online? They even created online passes you had to buy if you wanted to play them. Now they can't stop bragging about "monthly active users" or fudgy player bases. Publishers can be amazingly stupid.

Online pass has aged so poorly lol. Nowadays devs are trying to make multiplayer as free as possible so they can rake in those microtransactions.

Wait, maybe microtransactions are a result of online pass being discontinued...
