EA's 'FIFA 17' grabs a third consecutive week at No1 (-55%).

Three weeks ago the software market was kicked into life with the launch of EA's 'FIFA 17'. 2 weeks ago saw 'FIFA 17' carry on at No1 and 2K/Take 2 join the Q4 bonanza with 'Mafia III' debuting strongly at No2. This week sees more than 80 SKU's across software, hardware and accessories released, with the software market climbing over last week and the year to date software revenue 2016 vs 2015 hauled back to just 10% down year on year.
There are no less than 13 New Entries in the Overall Top 40. Microsoft land at No2 with Xbox One format exclusive 'Gears of War 4'. 2K/Take 2 only drop 1 place to No3 with 'Mafia III' (-54%) and 2K/Take 2 also debut at No4 with 'WWE 2K17'. Square Enix take the next of the new entries at No5 with 'Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 year edition'.
Activision Blizzard's 'Skylanders Imaginators' debuts strongly at No8 and Square Enix have another new entry this week at No13 with 'Dragon Quest Builders' on PS4. For those that have lost count that's 5 of the 13 new entries so far. Incredibly, all of the remaining 8 new entries are Playstation VR titles (9 were launched as boxed propositions), which goes some way to showing just what kind of impact Playstation VR has had in its first week on sale (launched Thursday 13th October). The top performing VR title is Sony's VR showcase 'Playstation VR Worlds' debuting at No7. After that comes 'Until Dawn: Rush of Blood' (No9), 'Rigs: Mechanised Combat' (No12), 'Eve: Valkyrie' (No20), 'DriveClub VR' (No23), 'Battlezone' (No28), Maximum Games' 'Loading Human' (No36) and finally 'Super Stardust Ultra VR' (No37). The last VR title, just outside of the Top 40 is 'Hustle Kings VR'.

Gears selling less than expected (<116k) and PSVR games raid the charts.

There's a lot of XB1 games high up the charts which indicate decent XB1 console sales.

I don't know but since Fifa did 105k this week and we assume that the split of Fifa is 50/50 between XB1 and PS4 we are looking at <50k for RotTR.

I can't remember but for some reason I'm thinking 20k. I'm not sure.

It's actually <105K. That number is pathetic compared to Gears 2 (220K) and Gears 3 (323K) sales. It is a little bit better than Judgement (80K).

And Battlefield 1 and Titanfall 2 are around the corner, which will hamper Gears 4's legs.

Quality-wise, I think the The Coalition made a decent Gears. They did a much better job handling the IP than 343i with Halo. However, I feel that the developer played it safe with Gears 4. It didn't do much to get much of the Gears fanbase back on board and grab new fans, hence the low sales.

I should also emphasize that Gears 4's sales fall between the 55K-105K range. GAF is assuming 100K as an optimistic prediction.
