HORIZON ZERO DAWN SURPASSES 7.6 MILLION SALES WORLDWIDE

Quote
February 28, 2018 - Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) today announced global sales of Horizon Zero Dawn™ have exceeded 7.6 million copies just one year since it launched exclusively on PlayStation®4 (PS4™)*1. The exceptional year-one-sales mark Horizon Zero Dawn as the most successful new first-party franchise launch on PS4. Horizon Zero Dawn was released on February 28, 2017 to widespread critical acclaim, winning numerous industry awards.

"We had huge ambition for Horizon Zero Dawn and as we approached the launch we knew people were excited, but to see sales of this volume is truly mind blowing. Since launch, millions of players have joined Aloy on a quest to discover the secrets of the old ones. We hope they enjoy playing Horizon Zero Dawn as much as we enjoyed making it," said Hermen Hulst, Managing Director and Co-Founder, Guerrilla.

Includes both Blu-ray Disc™ sell-through quantities and download version sales on PlayStation™Store. Sales data in SIEJA regions collected 03/02/17 - 02/15/18, in SIEA regions 02/28/17 - 02/15/18, in SIEE regions 03/01/17 - 02/15/18.
Wowzas, that is insane and very well deserved.

Deserved.

That's a better 1 year performance than The Last Of Us, which is just incredible to think about. That's two new IPs that Sony have launched incredibly well in the past few years. HZD is single player only too, which just makes this number even more impressive.

So something I was just thinking about is KillZone.  Do we have any idea how well it sold?

I'm just thinking about this and it seems like there's a very good chance that Horizon by itself may be on pace to outsell the entire KillZone trilogy (I'm actually assuming it's already happened)

The killzones only sold a few million each, so maybe it can.

Nice. Hopefully ends up with 10m

Killzone has 4 console games and 2 portable games. Doubt Horizon has passed it yet but it definitely will with future ports.

That's why I said trilogy. :P

Well my brain skipped over that word since Killzone isn't a trilogy! 2 and 3 are the only ones with the same player character.

I am going to be daring but I'd guess we are close to this:
Horizon > 1+2+3+PSP

If we aren't there already.  Truly incredible whatever happened. Definitely their best selling game.

Well that's what happens when they make something much more original with a very high quality. Instead of generic shooter franchise #247 they're now making the crazy futuristic robot dino with an awesome female lead games. It just shows that creativity, originality and quality really do still sell - as much as EA and the like want you to believe it doesn't.

Many big companies: Single player doesn't sell.

Sony: what?

Did you ever play killzone?

It was actually a really cool setting. Plot issues and poor writing was the big problem. I'd love a Horizon quality game set in the Killzone universe  ::)

I was just exaggerating to make the point :P and yeah the setting is cool but that's about it to be honest. The setting in Horizon is so much better, as is pretty much everything else as well. Plus HZD is much more marketable.

I thought a lot of people considered KZ2 to be very high quality though. I only played Shadow Fall.
