How many "side quests" have you found in the starting area. I think I only found two, plus a few errandsill have to check my logs i cant remember exactly. it may have been 3. i also went into that canyon to the west of the starting area and met a pack of scrappers that got me a +39% fire damage, and one thats 26%.
